Funeral flowers for autumn

Losing a loved one is never an easy experience. While dealing with all those raw emotions and grief, the family needs to put together a plan for their funeral. The clock is ticking and many people feel like they are rushed into making decisions that they would much rather have put more thought into. When paying your respects for a loved on during the autumn months, it's easy to let the weather get you down. So, instead of letting yourself feel the effects of grief multiplied by the less than abundant season, you can choose somewhat happier funeral flowers instead.

Consider combining the usual autumn colours such as red, orange, and yellow, with some pastel pinks and a dash of dark green foliage. The lighter colours will help the darker ones stand out even more as will the dark green leaves.

White arrangements are always elegant and they are a popular choice no matter the season. Hydrangeas are lovely and can be used to make a tribute display like a cross or another meaningful shape. In many cases white flower arrangements will also include a green foundation so that the white flowers stand out even more. You can even have a plain white arrangement with a touch of green and add a colourful accent in the form of a floral bundle. Imagine a plain white cross with a "sash" wrapped diagonally around the point where the two lines meet. A white wreath can also include a colourful bundle of flowers on one end. There are many possibilities and all you need to do is ask your florist for creative ideas.

Various shades of pink will prove fitting if the person you are honouring is a woman. You need not stick to one shade of pink but rather include several shades by using a variety of flowers. The same can be said for blue if you are honouring a man.

Try to avoid flower arrangements that include any dried items like dried berries or sticks. Although they are popular accessories at this time of year, they are particularly reminiscent of death and how nothing lasts forever. When bidding someone farewell, this is not the kind of message most people want to focus on. The funeral flowers should uplift the spirit rather than causing even more sadness.

Finally, don't ever shy away from bold colours. You might be decorating a funeral service but you are also paying tribute to that person's memory. The flowers you display are a sign of your love and respect which is why it's so important to think about what they would want.
