Fun Things to Do When You’re Bored

By G J @myfavesjournal

Some people say that only boring people get bored. But even the most interesting person in the world can find themselves at a loss sometimes. There are plenty of things that you can do, but none of them seem to appeal to you. Everything you think of doing doesn’t peak your interest. You’re not bored because you have nothing to do; you’re just not in a mood that makes you want to do anything. If you’re stuck in that bored feeling, you need to force yourself out of it. Sometimes a bit of prompting is all you need. Try these things to get yourself out of that funk.

Spend Some Time Online
Messing about online has to be one of the easiest ways to lift your mood. It doesn’t take any effort, and it might give you a boost to do something more productive. You don’t always need to feel like you’re doing something useful. It’s acceptable just to have some fun while you take a break. Spend some time looking at theCHIVE funny pictures, watching videos on YouTube or playing games on Facebook. Of course, you probably shouldn’t be doing it all day, but it’s not going to throw your whole life off kilter if you relax for a few minutes.

Learn Something New
Some people can’t resist trying to pick up new skills all the time, even if they never get anywhere. You probably know someone who’s always trying out new things to find what they love. If none of your usual activities appeal to you, find something else to do. There are so many things you could learn, whether you want something practical or academic. You could read some books or websites about a subject that interests you. Or you could get a cheap instrument to learn or start picking up a new language. You could even take a course to get a new qualification.

50/52 - The great outdoors

Go Outside
You don’t have to do everything indoors! If you’re bored, getting out of the house could be just what you need. Being stuck inside could be stifling you and getting you down. There’s a great big world out there, so go and explore it. You don’t have to have a huge adventure or go halfway across the world. Go for a walk around your neighborhood or take a bike ride. You could visit your nearest park or take a drive to somewhere you’ve never been before.

Connect with Someone
There’s always someone else who can cheer you up when you’re feeling bored. Why not talk to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while? You could have fun talking to someone online or over the phone, or arrange to go out. If none of your current friends are available, you could make some new ones. Join a new club or group or find somewhere to talk to people online, whether it’s a forum or a blogging platform.

Don’t sit around being bored and miserable when there’s so much you can do to entertain yourself. Find something fun to do to bring you out of your funk.
