The Conservative Party suffered a crushing defeat in last week's election, losing its 14-year reign.
The party lost over 244 seats across the country to parties from across the political spectrum, with seats going to Labour, Reform, Liberal Democrats and even the Greens.
Before the vote on 4 July, a number of Conservative MPs, including Michael Gove and Nadhim Zahawi, made it clear that they would not stand for re-election, perhaps anticipating their fate in the face of poor opinion polls.
For those who did decide they could be re-elected, the outcome was downright bleak: 175 sitting MPs were shown the door by their voters.
A record 11 ministers lost their seats as Rishi Sunak's government faced a bloodbath at the general election. Sunak apologised to the country and his party as he stepped down as Conservative leader.
Johnny Mercer, Grant Shapps, Gillian Keegan, Liz Truss and Penny Mordaunt were among the major Tory candidates who went down.
Others under threat, including Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt, Economy Secretary Kemi Badenoch and Home Secretary James Cleverly, stood firm despite challenges to their seats.
Former minister Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg, who lost his own seat of North East Somerset to Labour, blamed the defeat on a "failure to deliver on core Conservative principles".
While leading cabinet members and a former prime minister lost their seats, their colleagues also suffered historic losses.
One hundred and seventy-five MPs lost their seats in the defeat - more than the 121 seats the Tories retained in total.
