Fu Manchu ★ The Return of Tomorrow

There are bands where you don't have to listen to the album before you buy it. You know what you're getting and you know it's going to be great. Stoner legend Fu Manchu is one of those bands and after 6 years they're finally back to bring us album number 14 - the first double album in more than 30 years of band history.

Massive fuzzed-out crushing stoner rock dominate the first half of the record with more relaxed catchy melodic sessions appearing in the second half.

Scott Hill (v/g) "I figured we should do a double record with seven heavy fuzzy songs on one record and the other record six mellow(er) songs, fully realizing that maybe I'm the only person that likes to listen to music that way."

But that's exactly what makes TRoT a great trip with the pedal to the metal towards the sunset until you can sit relaxed on the beach with a cold drink by the campfire.

Since their 1994 debut "No One Rides For Free", the band has steadily developed, but has always remained true to their sound and yet The Return of Tomorrow sounds fresher and more carefree - like a live session of four friends who just wanted to bang out a few songs.
