I came across this idea to make Blessing Bags for the homeless, and thought - what a great way to use some of the freebies and samples we get!
Put together a few bags and keep them in your car, ready to hand out when needed.
What a wonderful idea, and a great way to demonstrate compassion to your kids!
Ideas of What to Include:
Any individually wrapped snack or drink:
• Breakfast bars, cereal bars, granola bars, protein bars, energy bars
• Fruit cup, applesauce cup, pudding cup (include a spoon)
• Peanut butter and cheese crackers
• Gum/hard candy
• Instant Oatmeal Packets (include disposable bowl and spoon)
• Single-packaged nuts and trail mix, raisins
• Vienna sausage in pop-top can
• Beef Jerky
• Cup of Noodles, Mac 'n Cheese in a Bowl, Cup-of-Soup
• Foil tuna packs (not requiring a can opener)
• Hot Cocoa, Spiced Cider Mixes, tea bags or on-the-go coffee mixes
• Bottled water, juice boxes, Gatorade
Grooming and hygiene products:
• Combs
• Hand lotion, Lip balm, chapstick
• Face towels
• Soap, Hand sanitizer
• Toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss
• Mouthwash (non-alcoholic)
• Shampoo and Conditioner
• Bandaids
• Baby Wipes
• Deodorant
• Kleenex® tissues
Other Useful items:
• Socks, underwear, gloves
• Hand Warmers
• Plastic utensils
• Sunscreen
• Insect repellent
• Gallon-size and small size Ziploc® bags
• Mints
• Bag or roll of quarters
• Bus tokens or passes
• Tampons, menstrual pads, pantiliners
• Gift cards to local fast food restaurants
