Fashion for me is something quite personal. My interest in it comes mostly from personal motives in the sense that it is a way for me to express and define myself, it gives me a sort of freedom in the sense that I can wear and thus be what I want to be, and I found my passion in fashion blogging because I love sharing what I do and to me this is the best job in the world, I do what I love every day. I don’t always pay too much attention to what’s going on in the industry on my blog. Not because it doesn’t interest me – it definitely does and I do keep up with (almost) all of it, but because this blog is about what I do with fashion, what I wear and I don’t often care if it’s Zara or Givenchy, hoodies or dresses, I wear what I want to wear. The beauty of fashion I think is that it can mean what you want it to mean for you, and even though for some it’s just about clothing and dressing, fashion can be really powerful and influential as well.

I’m really proud to be wearing the top you’re looking at above. It’s part of a campagne by Collectie Arnhem (students from the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts) and Erwin Olaf (photographer) made to draw attention to the degrading circumstances on gay rights in Russia. This gorgeous top was made especially for this campaign and to support the LGBT community in Russia, and the print is a pink interpretation of a piece by Russian artist El Lissitzky about progress in a suppressed Russia. I don’t pay enough attention to these kinds of projects but this time I really wanted to because I think it’s such a good example how fashion can be used for good things, bigger things without loosing it’s cool. And the message behind the project is something I definitely support.
There are only 5 pieces of this original shirt (check out the Collectie Arnhem instagram to see who wore it already) but a slightly different and limited edition will be sold by the end of January. I have something special in store to support this project however, so keep an eye on the blog tomorrow. To find out more about the project, check out the Facebook page.

And tell me, what is fashion for you? I’d really like to know because I’ll be using your answers for something else, stay tuned!
