Inspired by Daniel Bateman’s toddler’s constant question of ‘Did Santa come?’ in the build-up to Christmas (Daniel says ‘Seeing the world through the eyes of your children makes it all very beautiful’ and we have to concur, our 3-year-old is very excited this year), Frog release a song of the same name ahead of the release of new album ‘1000 Variations on the Same Song’ in February 2025.
Opening with some baroque-meets-bar room-inspired piano and a touch of Daniel Johnston, the song finds Daniel looking at things from a more innocent perspective – although with the usual touch of modern reality: ‘Carry me Mom, stick out your tongue. The air tastes like home, vape hits your lungs, bring in the drums’.
