The result sees 'El Tri' now nine games unbeaten with South American opposition Uruguay up next.
It was a rough start for the Super Eagles of Nigeria 's new head coach, Jose Peseiro. The international friendly game was played on a neutral ground, AT & T Stadium in Dallas, USA, in the early hours of Sunday.
The Nigeria national team was unable to register a single shot in the first half. Peseiro rang the changes at HT and moments later they were level as a headed chance was converted by Feyenoord striker, Cyriel Dessers (1-1).
Nigeria was level for a matter of minutes. Mexico player, Gallardo again found himself behind down the left and his drilled cross was deflected into an own-goal by Eagles defender, Troost-Ekong, leaving Uzoho with little chance.
When scoring first, Mexico took their tally to 41 matches unbeaten (W37, D4) and in doing so condemned the 'Super Eagles' to a ninth consecutive friendly without success.
