Plot: Jason Voorhees, having barely survived a wound to his shoulder from his own machete, is back to revenge on all that visit ‘his’ woods. A new group of friends come over to party at an area close to the campsite. This time, Jason will be stronger than ever, and getting a hockey mask from one of those friends.
Verdict: Slasher time
Story: Let’s be honest here we know what is going to be happening, it is all about whether the kills are unique and the supporting characters are likable. We get the same message as the previous ones but this time we take the action away from a camp and end up in a vacation cabin. We have the same hapless teenagers with the same lines, acting just as clueless. This one also tried to work on the idea of the 3D so be prepared to have plenty of objects thrown at the screen. Dana Kimmell: Chris the girl with a dark past that haunts her, but reluctantly goes on the trip to her cabin. She gets a chance to rekindle her romance with Rick but Jason has over ideas. Good performance but not one that will be remembered next to others. (7/10)
Paul Kratka: Rick the country boy who comes back into Chris’ life, is a good character because he shows that a hard worker can be around the drug/drink obsessed people. Good performance as lost love character. (6/10)
Tracie Savage: Debbie the pregnant friend of the Chris who wants one more weekend with her boyfriend. Makes a good friend performance but is more of just another victim. (5/10)
Jeffrey Rogers: Andy the show off boyfriend of Debbie, who just wants a good time all the time. Creates the good but generic likable character. (6/10)
Catherine Parks: Vera the picky girl who is looking for a hook up but dislikes the guy she is set up with. Simple performance, but really just another body to be added to the collection.(5/10)
Larry Zerner: Shelly the practical joker of the group, who is more of the loveable loser, he is the one who first brings the hockey mask into play. Good comic relief performance. (7/10)
Richard Brooker: Jason the killer who stalks and brutally kills the people in his woods. Good performance and is the first to wear the mask. (8/10)
Director Review: Steve Miner – Good direction as he manages to get everything you needed for the slasher involved. (7/10)
Horror: Good suspense for the kills and you don’t know who will go first. (7/10)
Thriller: Builds nicely and throws a few dummies in along the way. (7/10)
Settings: Good setting, creating the chance to open up the hunting ground of Jason. (8/10)
Special Effects: Good effects used for the kills and good attempt that comes off cheesy for the 3D effects. (8/10)
Suggestion: This is one for the slasher fans out there, it will be just fun for them but the more die hard horror fans will not like this too much. (Slasher Fans Watch)
Best Part: Introduction of the hockey mask
Worst Part: It takes 15 minutes to meet the new crew with 5 of this being the end of the last film.
