The Paul Simon Songbook (Columbia 1965)
This London classic was deleted for a number of years, but is now happily available again on CD and download.
Not that such matters troubled us – as you can see, our vinyl copy is still going strong (pic, above).
Recorded at Levy’s Recording Studio at 73 Bond Street right here in London, the album is a relic of Simon’s London exile of ’64 and ’65. The girl in the sleeve picture is Simon’s then girlfriend Kathy Chitty, a native of Essex. Her name crops up twice in later Simon and Garfunkel, namely songs Kathy’s Song and America.
