The Rock of Cashel

South of Dublin, in County Tipperary, is an ancient monument called the Rock of Cashel. It was the seat of the kings of Munster for centuries and St. Patrick converted and baptized one of the kings here. Later the fortress was donated to the Church. Most of the buildings date from the 12th and 13th centuries, but the complex is known for having “one of the most remarkable collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture to be found anywhere in Europe.”
