Burano L Friday Foto: Burano at Twilight

Burano at twilight

We recently took a cruise that docked in Venice overnight.  Having already explored the most touristy parts of the island we took the opportunity to take a vaporetto to Burano, a nearby island that is famous for the high quality of its lace.  It’s also famous for the vivid color of its buildings.

Twilight is that time of morning and evening when there’s neither full daylight nor complete darkness. Photographers call it the “blue hour” because of the quality of light.  We were in Burano at twilight.  The blueish light muted the hues of the usually colorful buildings, and because Dan had to use a longer exposure, it made the canals’ water look like glass.

We’d like to invite you to pop on over to our As We Saw It channel on YouTube and subscribe.  We loved the hues in this photo so much that we chose to use it as the header there.  Plus, we think you’ll enjoy our occasional videos and slide shows.
