Friday Box Office: ‘Guardians’ Still Tops, ‘Cops’ Moves Up?

Lets Be Cops has been defying critics from day one. The comedy pic may actually end up in 2nd place, or at least 3rd place this weekend. No surprise that Guardians is still on top.

This is the slowest weekend of the year, which isn’t helped by the fact that the only wide release is The Identical, which no one cares about. Next weekend brings Dolphin Tale 2, which should make over 10M, as well as No Good Deed. Next weekend will be slightly busier, but not much.

Theatres are looking to September 19th for a shot in the arm, when The Maze Runner opens, alongside Liam Neeson’s A Walk Among The Tombstones and This Is Where I Leave You.

At the end of the month, The Boxtrolls and The Equalizer hope to make some cash.

1) Guardians Of The Galaxy- 2.7M Friday, 10.5M Weekend

2) Lets Be Cops- 1.5M Friday, 5.5M Weekend

3) If I Stay- 1.5M Friday, 5M Weekend
