French Impressions VI
Another edition of French Impressions.... Sometimes one needs a break from city life. So you go and visit your friends living in the countryside who are delighted that someone nakes an effort to go all the way out there. Yours truly went to the pitoresk town of Louveciennes near Paris.
Here is a short history lesson: The gatehouse in the last photo is part of the Château du Barry built in 1700, on order of Louis XIV, for Arnold de Ville, engineer of la Machine de Marly in Louveciennes. Inhabited by various grandchildren of Louis XIV during the first half of the 18th century and finally given to Madame du Barry by Louis XV in 1769 upon her elevation to the title of principle mistress of the king. It was here that Madame du Barry was arrested during the French Revolution. Ok, I am taking off my history hat now.
