#FreeTems #FreeOmahLay: Wizkid, Davido, Enisa, Others React to Arrest

Posted on the 14 December 2020 by Naijapary

While Nigerians on Twitter have been clamouring for raving Nigerian singers, Tems, and Omah Lay to be released following their arrest in Uganda, Wizkid, Davido, and Enisa have joined the campaign.

The singers were arrested and charged to court in Uganda. The charges against them were for breaking COVID-19 guidelines, officials say.

Wikzid took to his Twitter page to call for the unconditional release of his fellow artists.

"#FreeTems #Freeomahlay Free my people & bring them home safe!" he said.

Davido also took to his page to advocate for their release.

"Omo this Ugandan P, how can we help? What can we do? Artists just tryna eat! They didn't bargain for this @PoliceUg !!!!! BIG CAP!!" he said.

American singer, Enisa, also joined the campaign with the hashtag, #FreeTems #FreeOmahLay. Enisa became popular in the Nigerian social media space following her consistent fight against police brutality during #Endsars campaign.

The DG of Nigerians in Diaspora, Abike Dabiri, has also reacted to the arrest, promising their unconditional release back home.

"We must ensure we get them back home, safe and sound and fast #FreeOmahLay #FreeTems," she said.

Promoters need to do better, you bring in artists to your country without properly briefing their team.
