There were a few things that needed beefing up at the end of the book, a symptom of the choice of ending I'd made during the writing of the first draft, the deletions I'd made. I had to do things I really didn't want to do with the characters, the elite, the re-wilded, the world. I'm still confident this is the right way to end this particular sort of book, but it's like 'an anti-climax' in that there's no answer, no solution. Just a different sort of life. I don't know if it's as gutsy or ballsy as I thought it might have been. Not sure if I've BROKEN it.
