Mr. Urban Praise & Worship himself, Fred Hammond has released a remake of the Marvin Gaye classic “What’s Going On.” Hammond premiered the single on Erica Campbell’s radio show Get Up! Mornings.
When Mavin Gay released the enduring classic “What’s Going On” it was about looking at the forces shaping American culture at the beginning of the 1970s: poverty, war, and racial misunderstandings, this also happened to be the same time when Richard Nixon was President. Nixon resigned in 1973 due to the Watergate scandal that plagued his presidency.. Sound familiar?
Anyway to say Hammond’s new single is timely is an understatement.
