Verdict: Brutal Sequel
Story: Resident Evil: Damnation starts as we get filled into the Soviet divide with one newly formed independent country always at war until Svetlana Belikova the first female Prime Minister creates a peace between the two sides, but this is short lived as greed brings a new war for resource between the two sides.
Leon S Kennedy is set in to discover whether rumours are true about POW’s being used in the battle against American orders. With Svetlana leading the war on the resistance who are being called terrorists brings in Ada Wong to help with the situation using her expertise on bio-terrorism.
Leon must team up with naive young resistance soldier JD and the resistance led by Buddy to uncover the truth and once again save the world.
Resident Evil: Damnation is a follow up to both the first animated movie and the games which you can tell because it feels like a late stage of a video game. The story is a civil war with the resident evil creatures thrown into the mix which is disappointing because these monsters are what makes this such an enjoyable film because the final act is non-stop action that is filled with brutal consequences.
Character Review
Leon S Kennedy: Leon is the American agent deep behind enemy lines in the middle of the battle between the two sides of a civil war only to find the T-virus has been evolved to be used within the war by the government. Leon feels like a much more important character this time around where we see just how important he is to the Resident Evil universe.
Buddy: Buddy is leading the resistance movement driven by the loss of his wife in the war. He will not back down from anyone even putting his men and own life at risk. Buddy is a strong leader but very similar to Curtis in the last film.
Svetlana Belikova: Sevtlana is the Prime Minister of the country who claimed to be creating peace only to be just as corrupt as the previous leaders. Svetlana us the typical corrupt politician involved in the story.
Ada Wong: Ada Wong claims to be working against the spread of any virus and her history with Leon adds to the mix about her true identity in this war. Ada is a fan favorite from the game and we get to see her seductive side.
Support Characters: Resident Evil: Damnation has a few extra characters this time with JD being the highlight of the supporting characters with his love of everything that comes out of America.
Director Review: Makoto Kamiya – Makoto gives us yet another enjoyable version of the much loved video game.
Action: Resident Evil: Damnation has much more action than the first film with blood flowing between them all.
Animation: Resident Evil: Damnation uses good animation which would be like watching any of the cut scenes in the games.
Horror: Resident Evil: Damnation does have a larger horror element this time with the blood and body count much higher.
Sci-Fi: Resident Evil: Damnation has a good use of the sci-fi side of the story as we see the creatures that have been created.
Settings: Resident Evil: Damnation puts us in the middle of a civil war for the setting which shows both sides of the conflict and how far they will go to win.
Suggestion: Resident Evil: Damnation is one for all the video game fans out there to enjoy. (Video Game Fans Watch)
Best Part: Final battle.
Worst Part: The story feels too far away from the Umbrella idea.
