The Finance and Plantation Enterprises Reforms State Minister, Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the framework related to transforming Government-owned plantation lands in a more productive manner will be presented to the Cabinet within the next week.
He said that Government-owned plantation lands have been identified under three categories as unused, underutilized and unsuitably used.
He said that some lands are being used by outside parties without permission and some other lands are used by outside parties after exceeding the tax period or without paying taxes properly and also some lands have been abandoned without being used for any purpose.
He said that after conducting on-site observations and checking their proper conditions, the relevant reform framework will be prepared.
