NAIJAPARY gathered that the Rector's Cup Final yesterday that saw the presence of the amiable Rector,Dr.John Taiwo Adekolawole ,management team,Deans,HODs,Staffs,Dignitaries get underway as heavyweights statistics queens and the babes of Estate Management go head-to-head for the title at the Federal Polytechnic Ede most prestigious Sport Arena .
Statistics Department - pegged by many as favourite for the female football tournament - were in control for much of the game, and took a deserved lead after the Statistics queen's strike from the edge of the area fizzed over and set the tone for a solid display from Statistics warriors which saw them dominate possession ,Statistics Queen's kept pressing for another goal to make the game safe after securing another convincing goal. As the Estate Management babes slumped to a disappointing 2-0 defeat to the very strong side statistics in the Final game of the 2018 Federal Polytechnic Ede Rector's Cup at the Federal Polytechnic Ede Olympics Stadium (Pavilion).
Similarly, at the male football category, two of School of Business Studies's powerhouses,Business Administration and Management and Office Technology and Management ,went head to head for the Rector's Cup title. Both sides started brightly trying to get an early goal so as to settle down, but none came their way. The warriors of Business Administration and management got closest to a goal but was denied by the more organise Office Technology Management defence .
At times the Warriors of Business Administration and Management committed mistakes that almost had them punished by the lions of OTM but they were quick to recover, and avert the danger. The game ended 0-0 . While the game was decided from the penalty spot as the warriors of Business Administration and Management narrowly trashed their strong contender in the penalty shootout. At the end of it all,at the male category Building Technology emerged third while OTM emerged the first runner up while the golden Business Administration and Management emerged the first, also at the female category Business Administration and Management came third, Estates emerged the first runner up with golden statistics queens lifted the trophy.
While presenting trophies to the winners, the amiable Rector, Dr John Adekolawole in his address, commended the sport committee for a good work adding that to the participants of the tournament he emphasized that the Polytechnic administration encourages student initiatives, in particular development of sports,the Rector further disclosed that in a bid to discover talents, the management of the institution under his watch will ensure giving the pavilion and other sporting facilities in the School a new befitting face and to erect a world standard swimming pool at the south campus of the School . Subsequently the occasion saw the presentation of prizes of incentive from the alumni association of great Polytechnic Ede to the winners.
