Hey lads! Do you know that two new baddies will pop-up in the upcoming Gotham series? Let me introduce them to ya!
Dr. Hugo Strange and the future Two-Face, District Attorney Harvey Dent, from the Batman comics are set to “raise their ugly faces” on the first season en route.
Firstly, Dr. Hugo Strange will show up and his appearance will be tied to the creation of Arkham Asylum. The creator of the show, Bruno Heller, explains how Dr. Hugo Strange pops-up: “It’s a Season One thing because in our telling of it the way Arkham was created and the why and how is one of the causes of the particular criminal climate in Gotham that allowed Batman to happen. The revolving door of Arkham is both a brilliant narrative device because it allows you to – you don’t have to kill people off, you can just put them in cold storage!”
Subsequently, the future Two-Face, District Attorney Harvey Dent is another mind-blowing character. Through the entire Batman comics inventory, it was generally portrayed as Dent being a contemporary and friend of Bruce Wayne. In the show, it’s quite the contrary that the relationship is being shifted to Ben McKenzie’s Detective Jim Gordon. Comparing to original comics and movies, Harvey Dent is shown slightly older and more Gordon’s age in this telling.
Finally, more news coming from Danny Cannon, executive producer of the show, that the Gotham audience will definitely learn more about both Poison Ivy and possibly even how Mr. Freeze became involved in cryogenics.
