The city of American philanthropist Bruce Wayne and its drama will air late 2014. Yes, you heard that right! We’re talking about Gotham City and its people but neither Batman nor Wayne are protagonists in this story. The creator of CBS’s The Mentalist and HBO’s Rome TV Series, Bruno Heller along with Danny Cannon introduce their new baby “Gotham” as the story explores the origins of a Gotham cop and some anti-heros.

Fox president Kevin Reilly described the series as “this operatic soap that has a slightly larger-than-life quality. This is not some adjunct companion series. This is the Batman franchise, just backing it up.” He also added that the series will be separate from any “cinematic universe” DC is attempting to build with their films.

Just a word of advice, Fox tv-series Gotham will focus on Gordon’s early years in the Gotham police force. It will tell not only Gordon’s origins, but also some of the origins of the main villains in the Batman universe. The Caped Crusader himself, however, will not be featured in the series.
