A group of government ministers yesterday announced their resignations while supporting the move to form an All-Party Government.
The group includes Agriculture, Wildlife and Forest Conservation Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, Tourism and Lands Minister Harin Fernando and Investment Promotion Minister Dhammika Perera.
Sri Lanka Freedom Party parliamentarian Amaraweera said he will step down from the post of minister after officially receiving the stock of urea fertilizers imported to the country under Indian loan assistance yesterday.
Meanwhile issuing a joint statement Fernando and Nanayakkara, the two ministers who were members of the Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya and left the party and recently joined the government, said they are resigning with immediate effect to form an all-party government that everyone calls for.
Meanwhile Investment Promotion Minister Dhammika Perera said that he has resigned from his ministerial portfolio with immediate effect.
In a letter addressed to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Perera said that he accepted the above position taking into consideration the current economic situation and the great love he has for the country.
