Four Arrested Over Vehicles Theft in Teldeniya Remanded

Four suspects including a son of a former Central Provincial Council member arrested in connection with the robbery of three Defender jeeps and a KDH van from a vehicle dealers shop in Kengalla, Teldeniya were remanded until July 5 by the Teldeniya District Courts.

Police investigations have revealed that three vehicles stolen by the suspects were pawned to the owner of the vehicle dealer by two people.

The police earlier had arrested four including a garage owner from Sirimalwatte, Teldeniya and a son of a former Central Provincial Council member involved in this robbery and found all four stolen vehicles.

Two stolen Defenders were found hidden in a garage behind the house of the former CPC member’s son in Pallegama Doragamuwa, Wattegama police division.

Police raided the place on June 29 at around 8.30 am. Even at that time, parts of the Defenders were being removed and their shapes were being changed, police said.

Even the roof of one of the jeeps hidden in the garage behind the former CPC member’s son’s house had been cut and altered.

The KDH van had been found abandoned by the robbers in Aruppola, Wegolla in ​​Kandy at the time the three jeeps were located by the police.

The arrested suspects are residents of Wattegama and Teldeniya areas. Police said that four more people are to be arrested.
