Former Bribery Commission (BC) Director General Dilrukshi Dias filed a case before the Colombo District Court against former Cabinet Minister Rohitha Bogollagama claiming Rs.1 billion for the damage to her reputation caused by his malicious defamatory statement.

She also seeks an Interim Injunction from the court to issue restraining Rohitha Bogollagama from defaming her further and restraining him from disposing of his assets without reserving Rs.1 Billion worth of assets.

The case was filed through Attorney-at-Law G. G. Arulpragasam.

When the case was taken up before Additional District Judge Maheshi de Silva, President’s Counsel Chandaka Jayasundara appearing for plaintiff Dilrukshi Dias made submission and sought from court to issue summons and in the first instance, only notice of interim injunction on the defendant.

After considering the facts, the Additional District Judge ordered to issue summons and notice of Interim Injunction on the defendant and fixed the case for July 29.

Plaintiff Dilrukshi Dias stated that following giving evidence at the Presidential Commission, defendant Bogollagama has made a statement to the effect that the former Bribery Commission Director General has mislead court and has instituted action against him and thereby for well over 5 years, he has been harassed. This statement was telecast on July 17, 2021 on the Live@12 program on the Swarnavahini Channel, the plaintiff said.
