Forest Hills, Queens

Posted on the 31 March 2023 by Latoya @latoyallawrence

There was a time when an area of Queens Boulevard was called the Boulevard of death.

The intersection was dangerous as there were frequent car accidents or pedestrians getting hit or run down decades ago.

Kew Gardens, and Forest Hills were just a few of my stomping grounds.

I used to hang out over there a lot enjoying the scenery, shopping, and dining at restaurants.

When I was not at Red Lobster down by Rego Park I was on 71st Avenue and Continental all up and down Austin Street.

So much has changed since the eighties and nineties. Forest Hills was more upgraded back then.

Most of the highlighted stores are gone, and the two-floor go-to Barnes and Noble bookstore that was a landmark sadly permanently closed a while back.

I used to get my French vanilla cappuccino from Starbucks located inside the first floor of the bookstore then head up on the escalator to look around to observe or purchase books and gift items.

There was an alleyway across from the train station on 71st Street and Continental in between a space within the block of storefronts that had a cozy little pathway to other cute and beneficial shops of interest. The place was like a mini strip mall within a surrounding area of attractions.

Such great memories!
