Donald Trump bad-mouthed professional football because many of the players were kneeling to demonstrate for social justice. He even encouraged viewers to stop watching, and bragged about football losing spectators. But his efforts don't seem to have mattered much.
Football is still the most popular spectator sport in the United States -- and no other sport even comes close to the popularity of football. That is not just the opinion of the general public, but both genders, all age groups, and across the political spectrum.
