Seafood at Samphire Inveraray

Popped into Samphire at Inveraray for lunch recently. What a treat. Samphire specialise in seafood, a sensible choice when you are on the banks of Loch Fyne.

You can find the restaurant at the top end of Inveraray, just past the church-cum-roundabout. Once inside you will find a small dining room filled with aromas that hint at what's to come.

Menu

The menu features great seafood choices including a smashing fish and chips. For the less piscine orientated, there is also duck and the ubiquitous beef burger. And on top of that, the blackboard provides daily specials.

Food

The Fish Stew caught my eye, and within minutes I was looking down at a huge bowlful.

The sauce was a rich tomato flavoured with fennel and providing a warm habitat for mussels, clams, chunks of cod, salmon and many other tasty bits. It was accompanied by two decent size chunks of good bread, some grated Mull Cheddar, and rouille. For £16.50 a decent serving all round.

Overall, a good lunch and well worth a return visit.
