Food Review: The Peppercorn Bistro, Comber

By Emma @glasgowfoodie

The Peppercorn Bistro in Comber is on Castle Street just off the main square. It's a busy road for traffic, so outdoor seating is limited, however inside there is more than enough seats to welcome even a coach party!

Decorated just like an aunties dinning room with feature wallpaper and laminate flooring, The Peppercorn Bistro has two searing areas. One with standard cafe seats and the other with comfier dining room seating.

The pensioners special looked a good filling deal..if only I was older!

Food

A big cup of coffee from Robert Roberts, not too strong with a mellow flavour.

Both of us picked the tuna, red onion and mayo sandwich on granary bread. A surprising addition of a side of chips. Crispy chips and a healthy amount of filling for the sandwich. The salad leaves looked a bit like ourselves on this hot day!

Fresh bread with a filling that had a good balance of flavour. Not too much onion or tuna that's eeked out with mayo to make it go further.

Unfortunately we had no room for one of their enticing looking traybakes.

Verdict

A good sandwich and cup of coffee. Quick and friendly service as well. A tasty sandwich which was surprisingly filling. Clean toilet as well.

TL;DR

+location
+sandwich filling
- salad leaves a bit wilted
