Easy like Sunday….afternoon

Right in the middle of Glasgow city center is The Trading House.  We LOVE the bar and were invited along for a blogger Sunday Roast lunch.  Tea, Papers, Roast and Bloody Marys – what more do you need?

Bloody Mary, Virgin Mary and a Bloody Mary made with gin – the bar staff here know their stuff.  If you can’t face some tomato juice, they have a great selection of gins, beers as well lots of different types of booze to keep you happy. Check out their Drinks Menu here.

We declined the Bloody Marys (but had a sip of course!) and had a pot of tea instead with the strongest leaf tea ever.  Well maybe not ever, but it was strong enough for two more hot water fillings of the pot.  Good stuff.

Suitably refreshed, we ordered our lunch.  Mrs Foodie went for the roast beef with Mr Foodie going for the unusual vegetarian option of Halloumi.

Two slices of roast beef (cooked pink or well done) as well as roasties, a crisp yorkie, stuffing and a side of vegetables (cabbage, parsnips and carrots).

The halloumi dish came with a side of vegetables as well.  Lots of squeeky cheese and good big chunks.

Who’d have thought that Halloumi cheese would work well with Yorkies and gravy?! In fact, we actually preferred the Halloumi roast for being a bit different.

Both of the meals were tasty with top tasting yorkies. Not all crisp and with chewy batter to soak up the gravy.  More or bigger fluffier and crunchy roast potatoes would be good and the presentation being more traditional and less posed as the food looked lost on the plates.   The bonus of the afternoon was the live music in the bar area drifting through the whole restaurant.  I don’t know who the girl was, her voice was beautiful.  We honestly thought it was a recording.

Toilets are spotless with Scottish Fine Soaps soap and lotion available.

TL;DR

+ interesting Halloumi vegetarian option
+ Good Yorkies
+ Live music
+ Relaxing leisurely place for Sunday lunch

– Roast potatoes need to be bigger and fluffier/crunchier
