Fishy goings on at Quinn's Fish Cafe in Comber
Quinn's Fish Cafe was recommended to us as the place to visit in Comber for good fish and chips. The takeaway was busy but the cafe quiet. So sitting in was decided, plus we didn't fancy trying to wrestle our dinner from the spying eyes of Patchy and Dave (pets)!
Lots of seats inside, and clean and tidy.
Menu
Everything from burgers to pasties on the menu. We had tried a pastie supper before, so gave it a miss this time. Have you tried one? They are nothing like a Cornish Pastie. A Northern Irish pastie is like a mixture of meat, potato and onion battered and deep fried. Perfect served in a buttered roll or alongside chips.
Food
There was no hake or sole today so a haddock supper with mushy peas was ordered. Just a couple of chips eh?!
Meaty and fluffy haddock with a crisp batter. Excellently cooked chips as well.
Mr Foodie decided that cheesy beanos was for him, because well, it was a bit different (don't know any chippys near us in Glasgow who do this anyway). Another belly bursting portion here.
Verdict
Excellent chips and quality fish. Service could have been a little bit quicker, however it was prime chippy time when we were there and the takeaway section was busy. All items were freshly cooked and tasted like it.
