Excellent odds at Potluck

If you remember where No Way Back (or Grianach before that) was on Nithsdale Road, you'll know where Potluck is. If not, it's on the same stretch of road as Locavore, Lebowskis and The Bungo.

Standing out with a bright yellow facade, Potluck welcomes you in.

Inside is very small with 70's Scandi decor, so I felt right at home. WIth a cheeky 1970's print on the wall as well. 😉

Menu

The menu has a wide range of items, and good to see breakfast is being served all day. Sometimes you need scrambled eggs at 3pm! As well as brunch/breakfast items there are sandwiches, more main course-type meals and their legendary hot cakes...more on that later!

Food

It was lunch time but neither of us had eaten breakfast so a mix of meals was needed.

The Don ordered cumin minced lamb (£8) which is served with freekeh (grains a bit like bulgar) salsa verde, fried egg, pea shoots, labneh (Middle Eastern cheese) and za'atar (a blend of herbs, sesame and salt).

This was a fragrant mix of textures and tastes. The cumin minced lamb was divine. Not fatty or overly spiced. A well-balanced dish with a host of flavours. I'll be getting this next time I think!

I picked Salmon Scramble (£7.50) which was a plate piled high with hot smoked salmon, chilli scrambled eggs, tenderstem broccoli, sesame seeds and toast. Umami on a plate. The chilli and egg was 😍. There was a huge amount of fluffy and creamy scrambled egg with dill and chilli to awaken you.

It would have been rude not to have at least one of Potluck's legendary hot cakes. We picked the Pistachio Peach (£8) with roasted peaches, pistachio, orange blossom honey, pistachio kulfi and pashmak (Iranian candy floss).

😍😍😍😍😍😍

Three thick hot cakes covered in juicy peaches and pistachios. Even sharing this we were both stuffed full. Happy bellies all round!
