Sandwiches, cakes and cocktails at the Grand

One of Glasgow's hidden gems has a delicious afternoon tea offer just now with 5pm.co.uk. The Baby Grand isn't on a road so if you've never used Charing Cross railway station or the Premier Inn next door you may never have come across it, but it has been a favourite with my family for more years than I can remember. I've been there for a cuppa with a roll at breakfast, lunches, girls nights out and date nights (what!? - Mr Foodie). One thing I hadn't done though was afternoon tea. So it was time to sort that out!

Catching some sun outside, we poured out the Boë Gin cocktail teapot. Boë, in case you don't know, are a Scottish company (part of VC2 brands - Black Wolf beer and Stivy's ciders and liqueurs) but they don't sound very Scottish right? Well, they take the name for their gin from Franz de la Boë, a Dutchman who is often considered the inventor of gin. They produce two gins and two liqueurs, and on this occasion we had a light and refreshing gin cocktail using their violet gin (41.5%), how did they know I love violet booze cocktails?! 😍👏

The afternoon tea is available seven days a week, with sittings at 2pm and 4pm. At £19.00, for two people, what did we get..?

Salmon gravadlax infused with Boë Superior Gin, cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches, prawn cocktail sandwiches, a G 'n' T cupcake, chocolate brownie and Boë Superior Gin mousse. 😍 If you still have space, there's tea or coffee as well.

We were both impressed with the food on offer. The gin mousse being a favourite of mine. Our bellies were full and we happily relaxed in the evening sun, watching the world go by. This offer is only available through 5pm.co.uk. The usual price is £39.60 for two. 🍸
