From the New York Studio for Stage and Screen in Asheville:

Join Us for a live demonstration and breakdown of the reality television show process. Enjoy complimentary wine, horderves and an interactive conversation with Producer Kristen Moburg-Davis

The New York Studio for Stage & Screen in Asheville invites the public to a unique interactive event that will examine the anatomy of a reality show from a producer’s perspective, while exploring the psychology and evolution behind the format.

Kirstin Moburg-Davis, a dynamic lifestyle and culinary television producer, whose credits include Food Network’s hit reality series CHOPPED, will produce and direct a live, fast-moving cooking contest to demonstrate how reality show producers use real-life characters and pressure-filled situations to create drama and storylines.  An accompanying discussion will peel back the layers of reality tv programming from “process to product.”

The event will  place Thursday, March 21nd at 7:00 PM.

The studio will pre-select three audience members to participate as actual contestants. Contestants will be given a set of ingredients and asked to improvise while the cameras roll.

In attendance will be two of Asheville’s top celebrity chefs who will participate as judges.

The studio seeks applications for audience member contestants who have an interest and/or talent in culinary arts and would enjoy having their skills tested in front of a live studio audience. Interested contestants should send an email to [email protected] with their name, phone number, and a paragraph detailing their interest in participating.

You can register for the event here. This seems pretty neat and I will be in attendance.
