Food: Brunch at Brooklyn Cafe, Shawlands, Glasgow

Brunch at Brooklyn Cafe in Shawlands

Brooklyn Cafe is one of those neighbourhood cafes that has always been there but it's not all traditional, serving a menu covering burgers, pulled-pork and spicy wings alongside the more regular cafe treats of ice-cream and hot filled rolls.

We wandered along for some much needed post-breakfast/pre-lunch food.

The decor inside is cosy and modern with wooden tables and stone walls. It's clean and tidy but a bit cramped.

We settled down and took a look at the breakfast menu. A wide variety of dishes to suit all tastes. From full breakfast to omelettes and filled rolls.

Mr Foodie picked the Brooklyn Benedict £8.29, an unlikely marriage of pulled pork and eggs Benedict on a bagel but with the expected free-range poached egg and hollandaise sauce. It was surprisingly tasty so he'd get it again.

Mrs Foodie went for the Breakfast banana stack £6.95. Banana and maple syrup on top of buttermilk pancakes.

Ripe, soft bananas, gooey syrup on pancakes. The pancakes needed the extra syrup served alongside. Tasty brunch!

Mr C went traditional for the all day breakfast at £7.69.

An empty plate from Mr C, and a thumbs up. For a chatty bloke, he was quiet while he ate this!

If you still have space, Brooklyn Cafe have lots of treats on offer. These seasonal empire biscuits caught our eye.

This visit to Brooklyn was a marked improvement on our last visit. Staff were polite and friendly. Toilets were checked and were clean but they're upstairs which can be a bit of a pain depending on where you're sitting due to the close proximity of tables!

Location:

The Brooklyn Cafe, 21-23 Minard Rd, Glasgow G41 2HR

TL;DR

+ large brunch menu
+ friendly staff
+ pulled-pork Benedict is something you don't see everyday

- toilets upstairs
- tables too close together
