Fontaines D.C. have shared the video for new single ‘Big’ ahead of the release of their debut album ‘Dogrel’ on Partisan Records on 12 April. It follows a tour supporting Shame and comes ahead of a sold-out headline tour and shows with label mates Idles before their own headline tour later in the year. The video was directed by Molly Keane and features vocalist Grian Chatten’s 11-year-old neighbor in a starring role ‘because he’s got the presence of a hundred frontmen’.
‘Big’ is the album opener and offers a defiant introduction to the Dublin five-piece’s assertive post-punk sound. Short, sharp and full of snarling, spiky attitude, Grian proudly claims ‘Dublin in the rain is mine, a pregnant city with a Catholic mind’ time and again throughout the 1 minute and 45 seconds running time before then going on to look to his positive future: ‘My childhood was small but I’m gonna be big’. You wouldn’t bet against it.
