The Planes of Fame Museum’s replica FW-190 barks to life as it gets ready for a flight demonstration during the 2013 Planes of Fame airshow.  Entering service with the Luftwaffe in 1941, the Fw 190, along with the Messerschmitt Bf 109, became the backbone of the Luftwaffe’s Jagdwaffe (Fighter Force).  In 1997 a German company, Flug Werk, began manufacturing new Fw 190 models as reproductions.  This aircraft began as a Flug-Werk replica, incorporating many original components and is powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine turning a Hamilton Standard propeller.  It is painted in the scheme of FW190s flown by German Ace Oskar Bösch (18 victories).  Over 20,000 were produced during the war and at least 23 Fw 190s exist in museums, collections and in storage worldwide, with 11 displayed in the United States.  Nikon D300 w/18-200mm.
