Kelly Jones is a marketing expert is recruited by the White House to fix the broken image of NASA ahead of the Apollo 11 moon landing, which causes chaos for launch director Cole Davis.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In the opening scene we get to see Kelly working a scam in a room of men to try and get a good deal for her company, with her trusty assistant. It isn’t long after this she is approached by Moe Berkus who is part of the presidents office and wants to hire her to promote the public image of NASA which had been destroyed. Given her shady past she is also given the opportunity for that to be erased.
We then get to see Cole Davis who is the NASA director who is in charge of the Apollo 11 launch, he has a lot to prove to everyone after the previous failed attempts and still taking responsibility for Apollo 1. He has everything running how he wants it and that is about to change when Kelly arrives.
The thing with Fly Me to the Moon is that it is not the romantic comedy we are expecting it to be, and that actually works in its favour. That side becomes more of a subplot and fits in so nicely with everything else it has going on. It ends up more than that when Moe demands a fake set up and that they aren’t really going to show the landing live.
Then we get to see everything that was put into filming the fake moon and scenes, given that this something that has always been talked about and suggested it was nice to see it in the film and actually raising those questions to the viewer and letting you decide what you think happened and what didn’t!
NASA being at the forefront of the film, we also have good character development with Kelly and Cole who have both made mistakes and want to be better people and change for the better. Something that they just might be able to help each other with. Not forgetting the build up to launch day and the actual day itself which had so much tension and suspense mixed together.
Scarlett Johansson well and truly carries everything about the film in such an amazing way, she is incredible each and every scene. The chemistry with Channing Tatum works in such a good way, with both characters wanting to change because of meeting the other. Woody Harrelson is always such a joy isn’t he, I mean come on putting him then in that hat was just genuis.
While this might not be the film everyone is expecting, it is actually such a a joy from start to finish with some amusing moments and inspiring moments all mixed together with good performances.
