The latest Global Titans event held in Dubai, UAE on November 13 and headlined by Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Deji Olatunji was the first boxing event ever to be streamed live in the Metaverse.
The fight was streamed by MetaVerseBooks, one of the first companies to create a fully functional entertainment platform in the metaverse. The price of a ticket to attend and view the event in the metaverse of MVB Worlds was $14.99.
The Floyd Mayweather fight was a huge success in the metaverse, and in December, the corporation will begin promoting the second Mayweather fight, which will take place in February.
Delence A. Sheares Sr., CEO of MetaVerseBooks commented prior to the event. “We are delighted to be the first tech company to put on a world-class boxing match in the metaverse and make history with Floyd Mayweather.”
“MetaVerseBooks, our new, cutting edge metaverse system, featuring Unreal 5 engine operating on the web, was the next natural extension of my family’s continued quest to remain on the cutting edge of all digital technologies.”
The arena is designed to provide unmatched virtual experiences, including concerts, comedy, sports, corporate events, and performance art, among others. In order to create an immersive consumer experience in the virtual world, performers’ motions are captured in the studio prior to the performance and turned into lifelike avatars. In the productions, every detail and subtlety of their performance is captured.
Soga World, the web3 company that developed the event’s strategy and works to introduce brands and talent to the space, which in the past has involved U.K. rapper Aitch’s first chart-eligible NFT release and a cooperation with U.S. musician Ne-Yo to create his own NFT ticketing platform, stated via their Director Of Partnerships Jess Monroe: “The importance of this event showing in the Metaverse at this scale is hugely significant for fans, fighters, the boxing community and sports brands globally. This is the beginning of the future and how humans will soon interact regularly with sports stars, brands and events. A fan-driven, immersive experience.”
“From a tech perspective, the next step will be for the boxers to actually fight within the Metaverse. NFT betting within that framework, filming in XR for instant replay at multiple angles, Bluetooth mouthguards measuring speed and force of punches. It’s very exciting to think of what is coming.”
