Flower Soak Recipe to Help You Relax

By Simon Crowther @prestigeflower

There is nothing better than taking a long soak in the tub surrounded by your favourite floral scents. If you want to make your own flower soak, you're in luck because the recipe is super easy and requires just a few basic ingredients.

What you need

  • Dried flowers of your choice (rose, calendula, cornflower petals and herbs are ideal)
  • 3 cups of Epsom salt
  • 1 cup of Himalayan alt
  • ½ cup of baking soda
  • Pencil eraser
  • Glass or plastic tubes with cork stoppers
  • A funnel
  • Rose essential oil
  • Sticker paper

Method

  • Set aside some of the dried flowers to decorate the tubes.
  • Mix the rest of the petals with the salts and baking soda to create the flower soak.
  • Use the pencil eraser to slide the whole flowers down and use a drop or two if water to make them stick to the side of the vial.
  • Use a funnel to fill the vials with the salt and flower mixture.
  • Now add some essential oil to the cork stoppers before securing them in place. This ensures that the mixture is lightly scented but the salt won't become clumpy.
  • Use the sticker paper to seal the cork and prevent the scent from escaping.

You can set these aside and use one each time you need to relax and unwind after a long time. You can even add a ribbon and a special note to present your homemade flower soak tubes as gifts for friends and loved ones. Pair with some homemade floral soap, candles and you can make an impressive pamper hamper with just a few ingredients and a touch of imagination. So, if you receive fresh flowers for any occasion, remember to keep them even once they have perished and you can use them in the recipe above.
