Floral Wreaths Placed at Ri Po Ik’s Grave

Senior DPRK officials delivered floral wreaths to the grave of Ri Po Ik (1876-1959), grandmother of late DPRK president and founder Kim Il Sung (Kim Il-so’ng), in Mangyo’ngdae on May 31 (Tuesday) to mark the 140th anniversary of her birth.  A wreath from Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) was delivered to Ri’s grave along with wreaths from the Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Central Committee, DPRK government ministries, agencies and institutions, workers’ and social organizations, military academies and various WPK and Korean People’s Army [KPA] organizations.

Participating in wreath laying ceremonies were O Su Yong (WPK Vice Chairman and Member of the WPK Political Bureau), Kim Su Gil (Chairman of the Pyongyang WPK City Committee and alternate [candidate] member of the WPK Political Bureau), Ri Yong Ho (Foreign Minister and alternate [candidate] member of the WPK Political Bureau), Kim Yong Dae (Chairman of the Korean Social Democratic Party Central Committee), WPK department deputy directors and section chiefs, DPRK Cabinet Ministers and vice ministers and extended members of the Kim Family.  People laying floral wreaths or attending wreath laying ceremonies paid their respects at Ri Po Ik’s grave and observed a moment of silence.
