Plot: When a vlogger and her crew embark on their annual river float to commemorate the untimely loss of their friend, they are plunged into a life-and-death battle with a mysterious local, a sinister paranormal force, and their own fears.

Story: #float starts when vlogger Kali Fyre (Mayhew) is joined by her friends Jackson (Munoz), Madison (Sperduto), Dee (Coleman), Blake (Morningstar) and Zola (Nguyen) for a weekend away. They have come together to say goodbye to their friend who passed away the year before.
After the group have a few drinks, they receive a warning about the river and to avoid it. However, they decide to go out on the river and soon discover something is there waiting for them.

Characters
Kali Fyre is an aspiring vlogger who has been recording her life hoping to go viral. Despite dealing with an unsupportive boyfriend, she is the most down-to-earth of the characters. Kali has given up some of her career prospects to chase this dream.
In the supporting characters, we get the two female best friends in Madison who shows fake support, while Dee is openly not involved in following her friend. Jackson is a selfish boyfriend who doesn’t support Kali. Zola and Blake are young parents who have been struggling to deal with being parents and having the same social life.
Performances
Kate Mayhew is the strongest performer in the movie. She shows us a character that has been dealing with wanting to become a social media star and being a real person. In the rest of the cast, everyone does a solid with their characters, who don’t always get as much time to develop through the film.
Story
The story follows a group of friends that come together for a yearly get-together. They look to say their last goodbye to a late friend, but soon find themselves being hunted by an unknown threat on the river.
This follows a typical horror style, seeing the group partying too hard and then finding themselves being picked off. However, it does a great job of holding back the threat, making us wonder what will happen next. It does have the typical inter-friendship dramas going on, showing how some are closer than others.
The movie does use the location to great effect. Giving the environment the same atmosphere as ‘Cabin Fever’ as it is far enough away from people, that an unknown threat could be anywhere.
Final Thoughts –#float is an atmospheric horror movie that makes the river a place to fear.
