“Flache Social Media Icons Vektor |Social Media Affect”

By Julia Fernandes @appshub

Social media technologies take many different forms including blogs, business networks, enterprise social networks, forums, microblogs, photo sharing, products/services review, social bookmarking, social gaming, social networks, video sharing, and virtual worlds.[20] The development of social media started off with simple platforms such as sixdegrees.com.[21] Unlike instant messaging clients such as ICQ and AOL’s AIM, or chat clients like IRC, iChat or Chat Television, sixdegrees.com was the first online business that was created for real people, using their real names. However, the first social networks were short-lived because their users lost interest. The Social Network Revolution has led to the rise of the networking sites. Research[22] shows that the audience spends 22 percent of their time on social networking sites, thus proving how popular social media platforms have become. This increase is because of the smartphones that are now in the daily lives of most humans.[23]

In America, a survey reported that 84 percent of adolescents in America have a Facebook account.[7] Over 60% of 13 to 17-year-olds have at least one profile on social media, with many spending more than two hours a day on social networking sites.[8] According to Nielsen, Internet users continue to spend more time on social media sites than on any other type of site. At the same time, the total time spent on social media sites in the U.S. across PCs as well as on mobile devices increased by 99 percent to 121 billion minutes in July 2012 compared to 66 billion minutes in July 2011.[9] For content contributors, the benefits of participating in social media have gone beyond simply social sharing to building a reputation and bringing in career opportunities and monetary income.[10]

Fantastic list! Though it does focus on a lot of mainstream social media sites. Maybe you should do another list for new social media sites that are up and coming in 2017, like http://themusicsite.com/

Social media marketing (SMM) is a form of Internet marketing that utilizes social networking websites as a marketing tool. The goal of SMM is to produce content that users will share with their social network to help a company increase brand exposure and broaden customer reach.

Other channels that seem to fall into digital marketing so far are telecommunications (cell/mobile phones and voice broadcasting) and digital billboards. It sounds like what you see happening in the future with these is the Internet replacing telecommunications and even computer network infrastructures so that all these channels, as you wrote, are fed by the Internet.

It has been estimated that some 81% of Americans used social media as of 2017, and increasingly so. Over a fifth of an individual’s online time is spent on social media, according to one estimate. In 2005, the percentage of adults using social media was around 5%. Globally, there are roughly 1.96 billion social media users. That number is expected to rise to 2.5 billion by the end of 2018. Other estimates are even higher. According to the Pew Research Center, social media users tend to be younger (some 90% of 18-29 year-olds used at least one form of social media), better-educated and relatively wealthy (earning over $75,000 a year). The United States and China lead the list of social media usage:

This is an all-in-one communications app for messaging and (similar to WhatsApp) that enables you to connect with the people of your choice. It was also developed by Tencent in China and can easily work alongside QQ. As per the BI intelligence report, the number of WeChat users are fast catching up with the number of WhatsApp users.

Guided by its young cofounder Evan Spiegel, the app quickly took off with college students and teens who helped buoy the app from obscurity to the top of the charts in the span of a year. Its design was confusing and not intuitive at all — and offered little guidance for newcomers — but all that was intentional, the app equivalent of a “no parents allowed” sign.

It’s safe to say that the “more of us” referred to by Professor Levy are outnumbered by people who quietly tolerate online ads and others who embrace them. Now more than ever, both categories are sought by companies desperate to connect in a place where friendship and commerce are easily conflated. It’s worth noting that the Oreo page on Facebook (though Mr. Vaynerchuk had nothing to do with it) has more than 34 million “likes.”

This is an excellent tools for anyone beginning to use social media, and even seasoned vets have a lot to gain by reading this. I don’t think enough people test to see which methods within their strategy are working best and that they can really maximize their impact on social media by doing so.
