Five Unique Ice Cream Flavors

Ice cream is classic- maybe that is why so many people around the world love it! Ice cream can be paired with desserts or served as a stand alone dish. It can be enjoyed regardless of the weather and comes in so many difference variations that everyone is sure to find at least one flavor they like.

But much like the pioneers of the west, there are some forward-thinking culinary artists who are taking the world of ice cream flavors into new and uncharted territory. Here are five unique flavors that we think you’ll instantly love.

  1. White Truffle Gelato- Bella Gelateria,Vancouver, BC

    James Coleridge, owner of Bella Gelateria, is no stranger to ice cream. A recent graduate of the Italian Culinary Institute and Italy’s Gelato University, Coleridge gets his inspiration from different cultures around the world. There are so many exceptional flavors in his store but we think the white truffle gelato that is infused with black caviar is truly sensational.

  2. Goat Cheese Cashew Caramel- Black Dog Gelato, Chicago

    If you like cheesecake, this gelato is is well worth the trip. Made with tangy goat cheese, cashews, and homemade caramel, this ice cream will send your mouth into overdrive. Owner Jessica Oloroso finds her inspiration from local farmers and to that we have to tip our hats!

  3. Jackfruit Ice Cream- Hotel Saravanaa Bhavan, Chennai and Delhi, India

    What’s a jackfruit, you ask? The closest description we have ever found is that it tastes like gourmet Juicy Fruit gum. (And we mean that in the best way possible!) In Hotel Saravanaa’s Indian locales, you can pick out some intensely flavored jackfruit ice cream. If that sounds too extreme, their watermelon is a safer, and just as tasty, runner-up.

  4. Ricanelas- Bi-Rite Creamery, San Francisco

    If you haven’t heard of jackfruit, it is a safe to say that you have never tried Ricanelas ice cream as well. But man, you need to make the effort! Owners Kris Hoogerhyde and Anne Walker make this decadent treat using cinnamon snicker doodles, homemade sauces, and in-house toffee brittle. It is all mixed up into a truly top-notch dessert.

  5. Cardamom Ice Cream- Endomela, Acre, Israel

    In house chef, Uri Buri, makes every ice cream that comes out of Acre from natural ingredients. (So you know it has to be good!) He makes everything from poppy seed and wasabi sorbets to rose and yogurt line ice creams. But we think the Cardamom ice cream will be the perfect introduction to his perfectly unique shop.
