Five Killed, Many Injured, Houses Burnt In Fresh Ogun Farmers/Herders Clash (Video)

A neighborhood chief, who didn't wish to be talked about, advised our correspondent that after the Aworo folks killed the three herdsmen in Idofa, there was a reprisal assault on Thursday, resulting in the demise of two Yorubas, considered one of whom was burnt past recognition.

Homes, 4 maize barns, bikes and different valuables have been reportedly set ablaze by the attackers.

"The Aworo folks chased the herdsmen from Yewa North to Idofa in Imeko. They killed three of them there and killed their cows.

"On Thursday, the Fulani herdsmen returned within the lifeless of the night time to launch an assault. They killed two individuals, set homes and different properties on fireplace. A kind of killed was burnt in a home past recognition. It took the intervention of the police and the Amotekun corps to calm the state of affairs

"As we are talking, many Ohoris are injured, hundreds are now displaced at Imeko town. We need the attention of the Federal and the State Governments to take care of the displaced persons," the neighborhood chief defined.

As of Friday, our correspondent learnt that many residents of the village had fled for concern of being killed.

Contacted, the Ogun State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Samson Odedina mentioned he would get again to our correspondent. Nevertheless, he's but to take action hours earlier than submitting this report.

In the meantime, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident on Saturday, assuring that these behind the it will be apprehended.

"We heard about it. It's an unlucky incident and we're investigating it. We've got referred to as on all stakeholders, together with the Fulani communities which have been dwelling in that place, who testified that they didn't even know the explanation for the assault.

"We're investigating to make sure that those that carried out that dastardly act are apprehended in different to not trigger additional disaster.

"No arrest have been made yet, but we are on it and we are sure that those who committed that act will be apprehended," Oyeyemi mentioned.
