I always considered food to be medicine, and when it comes to digestion- that rings true. Food actually begins the digestion process when it enters your mouth. It goes through quite the process throughout the body, and may even cause some... So if you'd like to know how to avoid taking those nasty over the counter digestion medicines and digest foods with ease naturally.. here's five foods to prevent digestion issues. (however this is not medical advice so if you are having digestion problems please consult your medical practitioner) This article by guest blogger Sarah Marino is meant for some info to ponder but should not take the place of your medical practitioner.

Yogurt With different flavors, alternatives, and brands in mind, you can't ignore that yogurt is FILLED with probiotics-which, is good bacteria that live in your body already. Yogurt can help with bloating, gas, and even constipation.

Kombucha While also becoming a newly found trend in supermarkets, this fermented tea can improve digestive health with a specific ingredient; once again, probiotics! It is created with specific strands of bacteria that settles in the tea overtime, thus enhancing the digestive process overall upon consumption. Some argue that while it may taste a bit funky, it can do wonders for your gut.

Ginger Commonly known to help reduce nausea, motion sickness, and morning sickness in pregnant women, ginger excels at providing a gateway to proper gastric emptying. It also helps reduces heartburn and abdominal discomfort.

Bananas Also being a girl's best friend during her menstrual cramps (yes, it helps with that too, ladies), bananas have many health benefits, including improving digestion! They have a fair amount of fiber in them already (about 3 grams), so digestion occurs with ease. Scientists also predict that bananas may also aid in lessening the risk of colon cancer.

While being one of the healthiest natural fatty foods out there, avocado can aid in so many factors, like digestion! Enriched with so many vitamins and self-absorbing nutrients, avocado is an easy digestive agent to add into any diet!

Were there any foods that help with digestion that you have used and are not included here? Or any you would like to add? Comment below!
