The Marine Forecasting Division of National Meteorological Centre has issued an advisory of rough sea and strong winds.
According to the advisory, “low-pressure area located over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal has moved west-northwestwards and intensified into a depression over southeast Bay of Bengal yesterday. Wind speed in the sea areas may increase up to 70 kmph off the coast extending from Mannar to Batticaloa via Kankesanthurai and Trincomalee.”
Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
