Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It’s the very first trailer for Superman reboot Man of Steel.
Starring Henry Cavill as the titular hero, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Russell Crowe as Superman’s Kryptonian father, the film is due out in 2013. There are two versions of the trailer: one with a voiceover by Crowe, and another narrated by Superman’s human adopted father, played by Kevin Costner.
Neither teaser trailer, first unveiled at Comic-Con 2012, gives much away: “What we get here is in effect much more of a mood piece than any sort of indication of what the story is likely to be,” wrote James Peaty at Den of Geek. But to whet fans’ appetites, there is a closing shot of Superman flying up into the sky, with iconic cape in place.
