After coming up with notches, perforations, and pop-up cameras, smartphone makers have finally found a way to achieve true full-screen viewing using sub-screen cameras.
For a long time, we have been hearing about the integrated camera technology developed by different manufacturers. ZTE has also teased its built-in camera tech for weeks. It finally announced the ZTE Axon 20 5G, the world's first commercial smartphone with an underscreen selfie camera.
The phone sports a 6.92 inch FHD + OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Besides the 32MP sub-screen camera, the phone also has a built-in fingerprint sensor.
Inside, the ZTE Axon 20 is powered by the Snapdragon 765G chipset with three different RAM and ROM storage options - 6GB + 64GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 12GB + 256GB.
The device runs its Android skin called ZTE's Mifavor 10.5, which is based on Android 10. It has a 4,220mAh battery and supports 30W fast charging.
On the back, the Axon 20 offers a quad-camera setup with a 64MP primary lens, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 2MP lens for macro photography.
Although ZTE is the first to release a smartphone with an under-screen camera, it won't be the only one. Not too long ago, Xiaomi teased its 3rd generation sub-screen camera technology, which it plans to mass produce in 2021. Apart from that, Oppo and Samsung have also shown promising results with their integrated camera technology.
The ZTE Axon 20 5G will be available in China from September 10. The base variant with 6GB + 128GB storage option is priced at CNY 2,198 ~ ₹ 23,500. Meanwhile, the 8GB + 128GB option costs CNY 2498 ~ ₹ 26,750 and the 8GB + 256GB option costs CNY 2798 ~ ₹ 30,000.
