We have to adjust for the ODI’ s and hope to do better to win, said Dasun Shanaka the Sri Lanka ODI skipper at the virtual press briefing held yesterday. The first ODI between the two teams will be played today at the Pallekele International cricket stadium commencing from 2.30pm.

“Actually we knew our opponent Asustralia is very strong and we have to play hard against them to get a result. We already finished T- 20 series and 1-2 series lost but the way we played at the last T 20 at this same venue, Pallekele we have confidence to play the ODI series but we all understood the deference between T- 20 and ODI’ s,” added Dasun Shanaka.

“We have good plans but are not finalized our playing eleven for the first ODI today”.

Dasun Shanaka who made a heroic knock of 54 in 25 balls at the last T20 game said We all are very keen to win the game. ALl my players are willing to win the game and ready to take this challenge said Shanaka.

I had a good innings at the last T20 and well planned with Chamika Karunaratne at that time. I wanted to stay until the last over to finish the game and that was really workedout and we got a very good fighting victory against World T 20 champions which gave real moral boost for the team.

“Actually today we had social media and it’s give wrong impression some times. Those days no social media and players did their part without any disturbances. Actually we don’t know what they expected and we all wanted to win the games and get honor to the country”.

“We have a very good side and the selectors did their part well while as players we knew our responsibility. Some times people criticized us especially when we loose the game. But I think people are really supportive to us and they always encourage us especially at this hard period and expected more support from them in future. Media and spectators have big responsibility and hope they give support to us,”said Shanaka .

Dunith Wellalage and Promod Madushan are two uncapped players and both have good potential and Asitha Fernando who joined with the team is back to normal after his illness while all others players are fit to play this game added Dasun Shanaka. Sri Lanka team was scheduled to do their training session yesterday evening before this first ODI while the team Management will get a final decision to pick the playing eleven today.

Meanwhile Asustralia led by Aaron Finch is ready to play ODI while few players including Pat Cummins the paceman, Alex Carey the wicket keeper already training with the team. Few Australia team players were seen playing Golf at the Digana Golf course yesterday morning while all rounder Glen Maxwell was very busy at the Golf course.
